Birmingham-area Parade of Homes marches back after year off | al.com

Nice article from Dawn Kent in the Birmingham News. I visited the homes at Viridian for the Parade kick-off, sponsored by The Alabama Center for Real Estate, and was quite impressed with the property and the turn-out for the event.

Brander’s report also noted growth in new home sales. Last month, 207 new homes were sold in metro Birmingham, up 97 percent from February and up 11 percent from March 2009.

There’s a similar story across the state and nation, according to the Alabama Center for Real Estate at the University of Alabama. In February, 781 single-family building permits were issued in the state, up 21 percent from the previous year, while U.S. permits rose 32 percent.
