If history follows the 10-year average, homes sales are likely to pick up in February, said a local real estate blog.
Tom Brander, head of local real estate blog TomBrander.com, said in his January home sales report that February has always been better than January, at least for the last 10 years.
But Brander warned against outright optimism after a 25 percent drop in January homes sales over the previous month and a 7 percent year-over-year drop.
New home sales during January totaled 109, which was 33 percent less than in December, and used home sales were at 585, which was 23 percent less than December. And total local dollar sales were down 34 percent to $106.4 million, compared to $161.6 million in the previous month.
